Eagle Crest Resort will be filled with a certain Nashville twang on July 15, when the resort’s Greenside Café brings various acclaimed Nashville-based musicians in for a laid-back night of country music.

One of the night’s performers is Austin Jenckes, originally from the Pacific Northwest, who told the Source how excited he is to be back.

“The PNW is the best! [I] definitely go through withdrawals from being landlocked in Nashville and seeing the mountains again is a spiritual experience for me. It’s also a great time to get inspired for writing new songs.”

The event, called Nashville in the Northwest, brings a little spin to typical live shows, offering both live performance and audience integration.

“It’s kind of like slam poetry but with guitars. The focus is on the lyrics and obviously we want everyone to sing along. That usually only happens when everyone knows something, which is tricky with original material, but every once in a while, the stars align and we get to have a campfire sing along,” Jenckes said.

The open-air roundup kicks off with McKayla Marie, a rising acoustic artist who has called the Pacific Northwest her home. She’s performed on “American Idol” and “The Voice” with a unique blend of country roots, modern pop and indie.

Next in the lineup is a songwriter-in-the-round performance featuring Jeff Middleton, Austin Jenckes and Justin Klump. Middleton is a modern country-rock songwriter who’s worked with Morgan Wallen and Miranda Lambert. Jenckes brings his signature blend of country and blues, while Klump is known for his acclaimed songwriting. Together, they’ll share their original music against the backdrop of Central Oregon’s scenic views.

For Jenckes, it’s important to be the kind of artist that brings people together.

“I’ve never performed this many shows in such a short amount of time and I’m feeling more inspired than I ever have to be on the road meeting people and sharing music,” he said. “I hope to come back to Oregon regularly, and performing with my close friends Justin and Jeff is always something I cherish.”

Tickets are free and all ages are welcome.
