Yeah, I had to read that headline a couple times myself before believing it myself, but yes, indeed, Band of Horses, the massive-sounding rock band now located in South Carolina, are coming to Bend on May 30.

The announcement came by way of a Twitter post from the Old Mill District yesterday. Isn’t it fun receiving excitement in 140-character bursts?

This, for the most part, erases the allegedly snot-nosed attitude pervasive in my last posting about the respectable, but you know, kind of, well, disappointing (at least for non AARP cardholders) Steve Miller Band announcement. And this is just the first band on the Sasquatch! lineup that Monqui Presents (the company that books the LSA) has snagged by the ankle to play a Memorial Day Weekend show here in town.

Ticketing info and opener info (most likely an awesome act or two, maybe also from the Sasquatch lineup) will be announced soon. In the meantime, check out Band of Horses!

UPDATE: She & Him, the duo of actress/vocal goddess Zoey Deschanel and folk rocker/producer M. Ward, has been added to the bill as the opening band. Doubly cool.

  1. Are you kidding!!! 4 guitars and not one playing a lead. These guys suck!!! What lyrics. Cancel them and call LINO. He lives right here in Bend and IS a musician.

  2. I wish he would just sleep so he would stop singing,These guys suck! this is not rock music,it’s organic-touchy-feel-basic lyric yuppie music..blah! course in Bend people will go nuts over it.

  3. Band of Horses is an epic fail. Nothing more than another bunch of no talent ass clowns plugged into the formula of popular, substance-less, ignorance promoting nonsense. I agree, four guitars and no lead is pretty much the most retarded concept for a band I’ve ever heard of. The singer sounds like a yuppie spandex queen who is trying to pull of some sort of “I used to be a cool dude and did a lot of drugs.” crap. Again. Epic fail.

  4. Well, actually, Band of Horses isn’t popular. By any means. The concept for a band doesn’t have to fit your liking. They are a great band, and you make a judgment based on one song. I bet you didn’t even know who they were until you came upon this video. Your judgements are narrow-minded and are based upon the fact that you think all bands should be based around the basic idea of a rhythm, lead, bass, drums idea. Maybe for one song they don’t have lead. I’d appreciate it if you thought and did some research before you post a dimwit comment.
