Today I entered the Liberty Theater for the first time ever (the largely empty space has been closed for a few years now thanks to some legal troubles from prior owners), to pick up some info on the BendFilm Festival, which kicks off tonight with an opening reception and screening at the Tower Theatre.

To open the festival, BendFilm is screening A Film With Me In It, a feature-length narrative that focuses on a pair of down-on-their-luck slackers who watch as everyone else living in their Dublin apartment building dies. The dark, dark, dark comedy follows the two as they try to figure out what the hell is going on while not landing themselves in jail.

Also tonight in BendFilm news…the annual Bash at the Box, which was once a party that turned clothing boutique Hot Box Betty into a full-blown dance club, has moved to the Blacksmith, where organizers promise a bash with or without the box.

$30/adv, $35/door, Admittance included for Full Fest passholders

Bash at the Box

The Blacksmith 9pm—12am
A late-night evening of drinks and dancing after the opening film.

Friday Oct. 9

Meet the Filmmakers

Liberty Theatre 4pm—6pm
Meet visiting filmmakers and share a glass of wine and some snacks. Free.

Sisters Stampede!!  Sisters Opening Night After Party

Three Creeks Brewing Company 9pm—11pm    
Live music by local favorites, The Anvil Blasters following the opening night movie, At the Edge of the World, in Sisters.

After Party

The Decoy 9pm—12am
Grab a drink with fellow film buffs and filmmakers.
