Summer is pretty much over, but the sizable crowd at the Athletic Club of Bend last night where Brett Dennen played a set of fan favorites, shook his ass and spoke for about 15 total minutes about love and love-related topics didn’t seem to care much as they danced to the singer-songwriter’s warm-and-cozy numbers.

As always, Dennen was equipped with a talented backing band, allowing the red-haired giant to put down his guitar a few times and grab the mic for some R&B-style crooning as he stared over the crowd and into the brisk September night. This was his first show in Bend since a late-2007 gig opening for the John Butler Trio and it seems he’s gathered quite a dedicated fan base here since then.
