The entire Source staff headed to the Tower Theatre last night for the opening night performance of Cat Call Productions’ performance of Cabaret. All I can say, is go see this musical. Even if you don’t particularly enjoy the theater and have a fundamental problem with anyone, anywhere spontaneously breaking into song, go see this. The production very well might be one of the best local theater efforts we’ve ever seen in Bend.

Cabaret is sometimes sexy, sometimes sad, part comedy and part drama. The music, provided by a live orchestra, is top-tappingly awesome and the performances, especially that of Corinne Sharlet, the 20-year-old actress who plays the lead of role of the English cabaret dancing Sally Bowles. In addition, the play, set in 1929 Berlin, is also an excellent commentary on how exactly the Nazis came to power.

Check the next issue of the paper for our full review of the production.

Cabaret runs tonight and tomorrow at 8pm and Thursday-Saturday next week.
