As fire crews continue getting the upper hand with the Bench Fire, burning four miles southwest of the Warm Springs community, it will be some time before the reservation is fully restored. The fire destroyed six tribal homes and five outbuildings. As of Aug. 6, it was 84% contained at 67,071 acres. The reservation is also dealing with a water shortage which was exacerbated by a 6-inch crack in a water main that supplies water to facilities on the reservation, including Indian Head Casino.
Jason Gallagher, marketing director for the casino, says, “Due to the devastating wildfires affecting Warm Springs and surrounding communities, Indian Head Casino made the difficult decision to cancel our summer concert series. While it was not a decision we took lightly, the safety and well-being of our guests, team members, and community had to come first.”
One upcoming concert at the casino has been moved to General Duffy’s Waterhole in Redmond. ABBAcadabra: The Ultimate ABBA Tribute will perform Aug. 21 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Warm Springs Wildfire Recovery Fund and Thrive Central Oregon.

To stand hand in hand with Indian Head Casino and the Confederate Tribes of Warm Springs to host this benefit concert raising money for those effected by the wildfires is a true honor.”
The audience will also have the opportunity to learn about recovery initiatives and make additional contributions. As of Thursday, the Warm Springs recovery fund had raised $282,991. Thrive Central Oregon connects people with resources. About 70% of the households working with Thrive have income under 30% of the Area Median Income.
ABBAcadabra is a high energy band paying tribute to the 1970s Swedish pop group, ABBA, which was one of the most commercially successful musical groups in history.
“In the midst of these challenges, we’ve also witnessed the strength and generosity that define Central Oregon,” Gallagher says. “This is more than a concert. It’s our community doing what it does best: showing up for one another when it matters most.”
