Things just keep looking better and better for the summer music scene here in Bend — and doubly so now that it’s been announced that progressive popsters Pinback are playing the Domino Room on July 8.

The band played a sold-out show at the Domino in February of 2007, but haven’t been back since. For whatever reason, the band — comprised of the dynamic team of Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith IV — is incredibly popular here in Bend, and you’ll hear their records spinning in Ranch Records as well as on 92.7FM.

The Bend show is part of a brief West Coast tour that, according to the Pinback website, will feature just Crow and Smith, in somewhat of a departure from their previous full-band engagements.ย  But with the gadgetry these two guys tend to roll with, don’t expect a slump in the sound.

The additionally awesome details are that tickets are only $14 in advance and it’s all ages.

Sure, it snowed a few inches today, but summer, and it’s increasingly sweet music lineup, has to come sometime…right?

  1. Yes, yes, yes!! The ’07 show was incredible, especially in light of the fact that Rob was sick at the time. Mike says, “For whatever reason, the band…is incredibly popular here in Bend”. For whatever reason? It sounds like you’re excited about the show too, why’s that? Pinback are an incredible and rare talent – it’s got nothing to do with Bend, other than the fact that they almost certainly get more exposure here than your average town due to the general awesomeness of 92.7.

    Thanks for making my morning!
