For a politician, going to a party’s national convention is like a football fan going to the Super Bowl. So why (as politickeror.com reports) is Gordon Smith probably not going to attend the Republican National Convention in September?
The official story is that the senator most likely will want to spend the first week of September campaigning in Oregon. But blogger “torridjoe” at Loaded Orygun has another explanation: Smith wants to downplay his association with the Republican Party and its presidential candidate, John McCain.
“I think it’s less about losing a week in Oregon than it is showing up for a week with other Republicans, and especially being seen in the vicinity of John McCain,” he writes.
“We know that Smith has spent much of the last few months doing everything possible to distance himself from [George] Bush and the Republican brand. That could all fall apart with a couple of days’ newspaper coverage discussing his connection to McCain, picturing Smith and McCain at the convention arm in arm – or perish the thought, in a similar Embrace of Death that continues to follow McCain around the blogosphere like johnny paper stuck to his shoe.
“But it’s not just McCain, it’s the entire Republican brand. It stinks like fish at the moment, and many Republicans who would like to keep their jobs are deathly afraid of getting the stench on them.”

This can be said about Bend. The entire house of cards that is COBA/EDCO that rules the roost here in Bend and spends taxpayer dollars on PR&MARKETING of condo-time share sales.
The house of cards in Bend is imploding, and ‘republican brand’ put the house together. They’ll be hiding for years so they can blame the other pig-trough feeders ( democrats ) for all the problems in the aftermath of this party. The debt the Republican Fathers of EDCO/COBA are so deep in this city its unfathomable. The city treasurer shrinks daily in her ability to keep a smile on her face with the latest daily multi-million dollar corporate welfare scheme designed to keep the Bend-Bubble Real Estate business afloat.
In summary the analysis is right on, its not often that you hear people in Bend tell the truth about anything. I could almost call it refreshing if it not for the stench of death in the air.
The ‘source’ of the stench of death in Bend, is that of mysterious death’s and suicides of Bend’s best known golfers and & STD (siberian tract developments) developers.
Cigar chomping Republicans of course are looking very much like the golden-boyz of wall-street in about 1932. The stench of death is that the Great Bend Bubble is now in its final stage of deflation. The tier one good-old boyz unloaded worthless desert land. Tier two developed that land, and tier three bought the ‘STD’ developments at wholesale distress prices post 2006, in anticipation of the Bend-Bubble roaring back.
Today the tier-one boyz are looking at bankruptcy, the tier-two at lawsuits, and tier-three at suicide. Bend certainly reeks.

Bend for the past ten years has only been about selling condos to out of town suckers ( tourists ), now those dear tourists are losing their lovely condo’s. This is the future of Bend. Fitting end to Bend, reel them in, rob them, and when they get tired of being robbed, sue them. Tomorrow’s Bend will 100% lawyers, today that is who COBA/EDCO financing. Bend is going to become hell on earth.
