Itโ€™s almost spring here in the glorious highlands of Central Oregon, which means that if youโ€™re a lover of live music, itโ€™s time to start praying for some big news to come out of the folks at the Les Schwab Amphitheater.

We already knew that Merle Haggard would be diverting his tour away from the steady string of casinos itโ€™s scheduled for to arrive on the LSA stage come June 20, but now itโ€™s been confirmed that another classic name is on the summer concert lineup. And thatโ€™s the fact that Steve Miller Band will play on July 16th.

Thatโ€™s right, Steve Miller is indeed still alive (heโ€™s actually only 66) and in only a few short months will be playing โ€œFly Like and Eagleโ€ and โ€œThe Jokerโ€ live in concert for you โ€“ so forget about hanging out in the Trans-Am with the eight-track player. Itโ€™s all live, baby!

Somewhat peculiarly, thereโ€™s a date on the Old Mill website for May 28 that mentions gates at 5:30 p.m. Could this be a yet-to-be-announced Memorial Day show? In yearโ€™s past, weโ€™ve gotten some runoff from the Sasquatch! Music Festival and its typically awesome lineup thatโ€™s given us shows from Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse and Michael Franti & Spearhead in the past. With country and baby boomer rock the only shows on the docket thus far, it seems we might be primed for a show or two for, you know, the younger folks.

Nothing to do now but waitโ€ฆBUT in the meantime, hereโ€™s some remarkably bizarre video footage of Steve Miller!

  1. I saw Stevey “Guitar” Miller at the Fillmore in 1970 with Bo Diddley and Crow (Bill Graham always liked to mix up styles of music in his shows)….

one of America’s best songwriters, entertainers, and truly a rock legend, hope it’s true he’s coming to Bend….

Glad to see the “Space Cowboy” is still “Livin’ in the USA” and touring….Miller, I need a fix of “You’re Saving Grace”

  2. I’ve seen Steve Miller quite a few times and it’s always a fun show.I can’t wait and hopefully I’ll be able to go.See a classic rocker in action once more! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Really KM because Bend is a really relevant town and should get only the most topical hipster music right. Be lucky that for little $ and a five minute communte without having to pay for parking you get to see adecent show in your little town of 80,000.
