A Dia De Los Muertos celebration kicks off the weekend Friday at 2pm at the Old Stone Church. This celebration of heritage includes art installations, food, drink, ballet folklorico, live music by MOsley WOtta, Lamp and Latino music sets by Portland DJ Danl. For more Day of the Dead activities stop by Amalia’s after 5pm for mask-making, face painting, sugar skulls, papel picado and local reggae band Strive Roots plays at 8pm. You can peruse a variety of mixed media art exhibits at galleries and businesses during First Friday Art Walk both downtown and in the Old Mill District. At 7pm Mai & Dave are serving up acoustic bluegrass and Americana at Jackson's Corner. The Infamous Stringdusters with Polecat are at the Domino Room. Experimental indie rockers Josh and Mer play the Liquid Lounge. The jam band Voodoo Highway plays the Silvermoon Brewery. Violinist Isabelle Senger and The Enlightment Trio perform La Folia at the Oxford Hotel and it is opening night of the musical comedy It’s Only Money at the Greenwood Playhouse.
