Holiday traditions can include anything from a favorite food to a relaxing night in. Source Weekly reporters Savannah Mendoza and Julianna LaFollette walked around downtown Bend around the Thanksgiving holiday to ask people about their favorite holidays traditions. Here are their answers.

Ashlyn Stewart: “Every year, my family does a lot of traditional Cuban dishes. We cook black beans, and every year, I swear it gets better. So, that’s probably my favorite thing we do for the holidays.”

Brendan Dugan: “Things we do for the holidays, that we do almost every year these days, is we take advantage of the program where you can cut your own Christmas tree. We always do that. We add the little GPS coordinates for where we can find them, and we go out there. We bring my sister, my dad, my mom and my little niece — she helps pick out the tree — and we find something.”

s: “Our favorite holiday tradition is going to see Santa flying in on the helicopter [at the Old Mill]. We’ve done it a lot actually.”

Christy Krueger
: “We’re going to go skiing, and we’re super pumped to ski. We’re usually chasing snow somewhere. Last year, we went to Canada. So, we’re pretty excited about skiing. This is our first year for the holidays at our place in Bend.”

Keith Cox: “Our favorite holiday tradition is just everybody getting together for dinner and hanging out at the house.”
