I just came across this video which appears to be an official tourism advertisement for the small Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth in central Washington.

And yes, it appears to be real and commissioned by the town’s tourism bureau.ย

This is hilarious, which begs the question — maybe Bend could make a ridiculous video like this to lure more folks this way? Maybe?

  1. In June of 2006, VisitBend Executive Director Michael Glover and DVA Advertising did a hilarious viral video similar in tone to this one but local politicos and Chamber types came down so hard on the idea of promoting to a younger demo that the video was pulled. I searched on-line for a bit and couldn’t find the video. If you have it archived – post it here. I’m sure DVA has a copy – maybe it could get Wikileaked up here again.

  2. Of course they would come down upon it, Bend is all about attracting WASPy republicans with money. What? You thought the city gave a shit about all the normal people?
