I go through (Northwest Crossing) twice a day and also walk it at least twice a day since I work near the high school. To call it a “Cottage Neighborhood” goes way outside the imagination. It’s a contrivance. Buildings placed on once beautiful forestland to look like something they are not. McMansions do not come anywhere near being cottages. There are NO PEOPLE there. There is never anyone in the park, no one has been seen sitting on the porches. There are no children riding bicycles. There must be a Camelot Crew who come in at night and trim the bushes, because I have yet to see a human being mowing a lawn or anything remotely related to gardening. And could someone please explain to me why “they” continue to build when no one is buying? We don’t need to be on anymore “Top Ten” lists that have nothing to do with what Bend is about.

Editor’s reply: Actually the Camelot Crew shows up around 6 am. And they’re very loud.

  1. Northwest Crossing is where the local chapter of Stepford Wives, Inc. hang out. No shit, shotgun…If you ever do find a humanoid there, poke them with a sharp stick…you’ll see…

A word of caution: I recommend using a very, very long sharp stick…wear your Nikes and have an idling Yamaha V-Max stashed along your escape route…

  2. Maybe BJT is the dude with the white cane? Kids are everywhere. I agree it is a little step-fordy (do the wives please their husbands in a proper stepford manner? If so, I’m in!) but the place seems pretty busy to me.

  3. I’ve only been in NWX on weekends (my wife and I like to have lunch at the Portello Wine Bar) but it always seems pretty dead then.
