Results in the May 2021 Elections begin to trickle in shortly after the polls closed at 8pm May 18.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from election night: Following the release of returns early Tuesday night, there was the defeat of four conservative candidates, who largely bucked tradition by not interviewing with local media and who espoused an anti-anti-racist agenda. Instead, voters favored other candidates—among them, two Bend school board candidates who are people of color. In Sisters, voters approved a bond measure to build a new elementary school, while a bond for parks in La Pine was defeated.

Once again big rightwing spenders lose in local elections. In recent years the majority of Bend voters have consistently rejected candidates who get and spend shitloads of money to win elections. In the case of the school board election, the money funded shitloads of racist garbage spewed on Fox News, the Lars Larson show and other media where Trumpettes go to get their fake news. The funniest takeaway is the candidate who spent the most money on ads, etc., got fewer votes than the other three rightwing racists. Adios to this despicable quartet. And big congratulations to Marcus LeGrand, Janet Sarai Llerandi, Shirley Olson and Carrie McPherson Douglass–four great candidates who will move the Bend Pine Schools forward for all students and parents in the next few years. This is what democracy and progress look like.
You could be the posterboy of the campaign to “Destroy America from Within.” Can you point to a racist thing any of these candidates has said or done? You are so filled with shame and guilt over the color of your skin that it overflows from your mouth my poor friend.
