American Socialism

Hear that? Unearthed dust and crackling bones as the Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves. Capitalism has failed; welcome to American Socialism – Where the Federal government can step in close and/or negotiate a buyout of a publicly-held institution (Bear Stearns) and/or invest in others more amiable: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, under the ever-diligent guidance of President Bush, will ask Congress – err, the Saudi Royal Family and China – for funds to back the two giant housing financiers. Each company currently has $2.25 billion in government backing, set some 40 years ago, and a total debt between them of over $1.5 trillion. Trillion. So, the next time you hear politicians slandering Hugo Chavez and Russia for nationalizing entire industries, remember this moment. Or, think back to the golden days of Reagan and the first Bush, when the same financial scandals hit, and involving the Bush brother we don’t dare mention, Neil, who was fined $50,000 and banned from banking. Praise George Washington that the free market works so well!

karl Marx – stoned immaculate. “Turd Blossom” part deux

ย
Oh Karl, you awesome fella! Just another good ole boy like Bush, Karl Rove was a no-show for his congressional appearance last Thursday. Who can blame him? Those pesky, anti-patriotic Democrats are in control and he doesn’t have to tell them squat. Ignoring a subpoena to explain his possible involvement in the firings of U.S. Attorneys and his role in the prosecution of the former governor of Alabama (who has since been released from prison by a judge), Karl Rove, former White House advisor, was actually out of the country when he was supposed – summoned – to appear before the House Judiciary subcommittee. “Mr. Rove is not above the law and Congress will assert its constitutional role to serve as a check on the power of the executive branch,” offered Rep. Linda Sanchez, the chair of the Judiciary subcommittee who Rove snubbed. Meanwhile, in another court far, far away, contempt of court charges against former White House counsel Harriet Miers and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten are still being argued. Will we ever know the truth? Not for years, if ever, and by then a new president will be in office, eager to protect his/her right to executive privilege.

It Wasn’t About Oil –
Or, Well, OK It Was…

We invaded Iraq to liberate them from a brutal dictator. Say that again. We invaded Iraq to liberate them… It had nothing to do with oil. Don’t mention that ugly three-letter word. Until now: The Iraqi regime, so free and optimistic after five years of bloody war, opened bidding for foreign oil companies to exploit their wealth. Yes, they actually use the word “exploit” when talking about oil reserves. Leading the race to exploit Iraq are Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, Total and Chevron – Ironically, the same multinationals that were exploiting Iraq’s oil wealth before that brutal dictator, Saddam, took control of the country decades ago. With proven reserves of 115 billion barrels plus another 112 trillion cubic feet of gas, Iraq is a goldmine to the lucky companies selected. “Selected” is another strange term in the oil biz; U.S. “advisers” led by the State Department were critical in steering the selection process to these five Western oil companies. Praise Allah, we liberated the Iraqis from themselves, and have helped show them the true path. Free to live, to choose (well, on most insignificant matters) and to be fully exploited.

We Need More Guns – NOW!

As an addendum to the Source’s cover article titled “Pistol Whipped” that seems to have pissed off every gun- and America-loving resident of Central Oregon, consider this: On Sunday, July 13, Melody Ann Green and Robin Renee Young, sisters and Bendites, got into a domestic dispute at around 9pm. Young allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at Green during the argument and a quick-witted witness disarmed her before any shots were fired. Charged with Pointing a Firearm at Another and Menacing, Young is presently lodged at the Deschutes County Jail, while Green is sharpening her machete at home.

Men Reading Fashion Magazines

It was such a lovely night for a walk, last Friday, a Slurpee (trademark 7-11) in my hand and a pocket full of goofballs. Practically floating along Drake Park I moseyed downtown, only to witness the most homoerotic exercise ever. Forgive the ignorance, but the notion of dozens and dozens of men chasing each other in tight outfits seems so, what’s the word? Festive? And, sorry, I know they’ve come from far and wide to race here but, really, must those shorts be so tight, buttocks so firm and agile? Is wind resistance truly an issue when sprinting 100 yards down Wall Street? Would it be too much to ask that they wear baggier shorts or, if governing rules forbid, at least a tutu to truly express the joy that is leaning over, pumping hard, a hot sweaty crack inches from your face? The ladies at least keep it real; bike outfits are so unflattering that I could at least focus on their races. And then another 6’4″ stringbean stud came by, pushing his bike, acting all disappointed that his race was over, looking to me and my Slurpee, making me blush and forcing me to say something homophobic, like, “Geez, I can’t wait to go to church on Sunday!”

  1. It’s interesting, and as amusing as viewing a rotting corpse, to observe how an average left wing bozo becomes a total idiot and warps reality accordingly. First they put on glasses that are opaque, then dip into the left wing shit barrel, smear the glasses with that mess, then submerge their head in the elitist brainwash tub filled with excrement and other foul detritus gathered from the bowels of MoveOn.org, then sit down to write an article for the Source. If reality bit them in the ass, they would think they were having a painful bowel movement…

  2. John–

I might be wrong, but I think I’m seeing a pattern here in your responses to the Source articles. Perhaps you could save a little time by posting, “I disagree strongly!” Those three words have as much substance as your continuous flaming rants. Argument and dialogue require more than mindless screaming from a soap box. HBM is right–where’s the substance?

  3. HBM: No Substance? This from Central Oregons Aging Crown Prince Of Mindless Partisan Hack Hyperbole? Mick had no substance in that thin, watery, left wing, intelligence bereft, simplistic, partisan, hack job gruel he served up. No truth lived there. How does Mick differ from any other lack of substance, poison pen, left wing asshole? Put some thought, some facts, some truth, some smidgin of reality, into this sheet and you might get some substance back. If you want to catch some fish, consider using a hook…with a little bait on it. There is not a whole lot to say about a minor left wing fart in a major windstorm….

How to you respond to a void with form?

    Nothing equals nothing…

  4. Mick’s inane hack job on ‘Iraq oil’ is a laugh riot. According to his circular, dog chasing it’s tail confused and dizzy logic, the reason we entered WW2 was because we wanted Werner Von Braun and the V2 rocket technology…Or… the reason was so that Henry J. Kaiser could build a shitload of ships and soon after the war was over, build the Kaiser, Fraser and Henry J. automobiles with his ill gotten gains. That HAS to be it. Those events occurred after the war therefore they were the reason FOR the war, right Mick?

Or maybe we just wanted to do the Marshall Plan so we went to war to facilitate that rampant desire…Or perhaps we wanted to put a bunch of lawyers to work so we went to war so that we could have the Nuremberg trials after.

Let me ask you this Mick: Is ten PM THE REASON there was a 9 PM? Get a grip!

With gas prices heading through the moon, left wing, piss on the poor then strangle them, let the bastards burn cake, elitist Mick apparently thinks we should have handed Iraq’s oil over to China or India to exploit to our disadvantage or perhaps he prefers Al Qaeda have it. What is it about America that you hate so much, Mick, that you would prefer a Western oil consortium not have primary access to those billions of barrels? Considering that elitist Mick clearly could give a tiny envelope of powdered rat shit about the rest of us, I’m glad that we had people and influence that are looking out for our future interests. I don’t consider paying the Iraqi’s billions upon billions of dollars a year negative exploitation. If exploit means something like, “use to advantage,” I’m all for it.

I expect left wing pinheads like this Mick and his co-mangler of reason and logic, HBM, to be anti-American, short sighted and generally stupid; that fits their bereft ideology. But when, through this basic ignorance and vile hatred of our country, they lie to promote their destructive bullshit, which basically consists of bringing us down in as many ways as they can think of, instead of working at lifting us up, well, that pisses me off, big-time.

  5. Stephan Cramer: Where was your ‘substance?’ The possibility that maybe you are seeing ‘patterns,’ you seem uncertain, is certainly not remotely substantive. If time is your other issue, I suggest spending it practicing what you preach.

  6. JR-

Personally, I think that any chance any editorial/letter writer has of gaining my support and maintaining my interest is in exponential proportion to their use of invective and name-calling. Mick and HBM lose me when they use ‘chimp in charge’ and ‘turd blossom.’ But they are pandering–playing to the bulk of their readership. If I don’t like it–if you don’t like it–none of that matters to them. Evidently the majority of the readership likes what they read.

I spent some time reading your third rant. Underneath all of it was your contention that causation is not necessarily motivation. Okay. Good point. Post facto arguments are logically flawed. But then you spend the last half of the same rant doing the same thing.

The point of my initial posting was that after reading your posts here and elsewhere you provide a lot of useless and needless invective that does nothing more than express your rage–and rage is not an argument.

  7. Stephan Cramer…After reading your postings here and elsewhere it comes to my attention that you are encumbered with a very small ego. Endlessly exercising your dinker ego by trotting it out uninvited, in ‘over compensation,’ by pointlessly critiquing folks who don’t share your unfortunate condition, only provides for a lot of useless and silly conjecture on your part, revealing your ignorance and your underlying psychological condition of low self esteem. A reminder: Ignorance is not an argument even though you raise that bar higher than an ordinary numbnuts would via the public disclosure of their lack of self esteem. If ignorance is bliss, you raise bliss to ecstasy…

I have no interest in your personal problem or your mind vomit. Please leave me out of your pathetic, wormy, self induced therapy sessions…

  8. JR–

You, on the other hand, appear to be encumbered by an infinitely large ego that allows you to dismiss any and all critique, contra-argument, and disagreement in the most vile form of ad hominum attacks that add new depth to the term ‘mind vomit.’

If I didn’t know better, I’d have to believe that you are a caricature dreamed up by the Source staff to stir controversy and interest. I don’t think they would be as unimaginative and repetitive as you are, however.

As for your personality–you brought up ego–it doesn’t take much analysis to know that your super-ego appears non-existent in your postings. It must exist, though, or we would be reading about you reactions to the world around you that you find so objectionable.

We should all be grateful that you have an outlet that allows you to vent your Walter Mitty-esque self-image in a way that is harmless.

Believe it or not, I find myself in agreement with much of the substance of your rants. I find your personal attacks despicable and unnecessary. I know this will trigger another one–how will you be able to resist.

  9. It is perfectly fine for corporations to reap the benefits of our tax dollars and be bailed out as long as no grimy liberals get the idea they can pay for health care, schools, pay teachers good wages and better the society for all. The most appalling news was the bail out of Bear Stearns and the direct order from Congress to not pay themselves any bonuses. However the first Billion dollars they got, the boys all got huge corporate bonuses in the millions. So how is it that a private corporation can pay themselves on our tax dollars?

We need a serious change and me, a grimy liberal want my parents to be able to sit back in retirement and not be robbed by health care premiums, my kids to get a quality education so they do not have to have their labor jobs exported to Mexico, India and China.

Lets get the real people into office, the people that will make us strong as a nation, abolish the Patriot Act, imprison the leaders of the last 8 years for life in one of their buddies work prisons, like one of the test cities in the desert which they designed to benefit some of their rich friends.

We all have to turn off the boob tube and make a change and start fighting for our rights. WE the people has turned into WE the sheep, who blindly follow thru the valley of death to slaughter by the blind who seem to think they hold the power.
