While there are plenty of terrestrial ways to enjoy Central Oregon, sometimes leaving the ground is the best way to understand it, whether that means getting a (literally) bird’s eye view of the High Dessert expanse, or just being thankful to having both feet planted firmly back on it. Summertime in Central Oregon offers plenty of clear sky, 360 degree, I-can-see-for-miles-and-miles opportunities to check out the land by air:

Airplane and Helicopter Tours

The Wright Brothers couldn’t have dreamed of anything better: Tours through Leading Edge Aviation last 25-60 minutes, and there are multiple options for the flight plan routes, aircraft and number of passengers. The cheapest option starts at $59.

Skydiving

With options for experienced as well as first-time jumpers, Sky Dive Central Oregon Sky Sports offers thrill-seekers a chance to celebrate a birthday or just everyday “carpe diem” with an adrenaline rush. First time jumpers can get their hearts pounding for a starting price of $235.

Balloons Over Bend

One of the most elegant summer events does not need to be only a spectator sport. Big Sky Balloon Company offers private chartered rides, starting at $220/person. Balloons Over Bend is this Fri., July 18 – Sun., July 20.
