Bringing the Peaks Indoors: Poor Man’s Whiskey and Blue Turtle Seduction lend 4 Peaks a hand

Poor Man’s Whiskey: Just another five bricks in the wall…It won't be outside. And it won't be summer. You won't be able to bring
your own lawn chair and you also won't be able to walk back to your
tent when it's over. There won't be anyone selling veggie burritos and
you won't be advised to wear sunscreen or reasonable footwear.

No,
Saturday night's Spring Fling Tour stop at the Old Stone Church won't
be the 4 Peaks Music Festival, but as far as music goes, it will get us
as close to the jammy outdoor music festival - the exact future of
which is uncertain - as we're likely to get in late March. And this is
due, of course, to the show's bill, which includes Poor Man's Whiskey
and Blue Turtle Seduction, two bands that have played both installments
of the festival.

Our Picks for the Week of 3/18 – 3/26

American Nobody w/Anastacia
thursday 19
This guy, whose real
name is Brian Granse, turned some ears when he breezed through town in
February. Now, he's back again and kicking off another Central Oregon
jaunt with this show in Sisters with Anastacia. Hey, did you hear she
won the Source/Far From Earth Films Music Video contest? 7pm. $4. Three
Creeks Brewing Co., 721 Desperado Ct, Sisters.
Crystal Dragons
friday 20
This
will be the third installment of this insanely innovative artistic
presentation that features music, visual and performing arts and spoken
word. The show, which has a whimsical space man theme, is produced by
local artistic wizard Joe Kimmel and features the narration of Jonathan
Ludwig. Chalk this up as one of the coolest things you'll ever see
around here…even if you do have to head up to Redmond to see it this
time around. Doors at 7pm. 7:30pm-9:30pm Friday, Mar 20. Evergreen
Studios, 435 SW Evergreen Ave. $5.

Phish at the Gorge? Yup.

There's probably going to be a mass exodus of Bendites come Memorial Day weekend when the Sasquatch! Music Festival takes over the Gorge Amphitheater up in Central Washington. But come August 7th and 8th, there should be another line of vehicles heading north as legendary jam band Phish returns to the Gorge for the first time in six years.

Frame Wranglers…It’s Funny as Hell

Local filmmaker Chris Kas, who works at Rage Films, but is also the brains behind a project called "Frame Wranglers" a fake reality show about a documentary team that goes looking out looking for fabled creatures, often with little success — other than making you laugh your face off. Tomorrow night (Friday) Kas is showing the third and fourth episodes of the series at  Backporch Coffee Roasters (1075 Newport Ave) at 7pm.

Pit Bulls Got The Shaft

Because we don't take it personal when people call B.S. on our WTF?!, we're awarding this week's letter prize to Staci Bowen who makes a strong case in favor of the much maligned pit bull. Thanks for reading and responding, Staci. You can pick up your prize, an Old Mill pint glass, at our office at 704 NW Georgia.
I just wanted to let you at the Source know that I'm very disappointed in the recent WTF column featuring the legislation which would force pit bull owners to have liability insurance. The article claimed that nobody at the Source owned a pit bull, because they didn't want their faces "chewed off." I have to say, I'm ashamed of the Source for spreading even more media misinformation about these dogs.

Hope Is Real

I just read an article re: Obama with reference to Dr. Sam Vaknin. Whoever wrote this article seems to think the American people are a bunch of sheep who can be led by one person, or persons, without any struggle. This is absolutely not true. What the author seems to forget is that there is a whole segment of middle Americans, like myself, who would not put up with this type of thing. They are usually Christians, or believers, and love their country, America.
