Since Dusty Rhodes and the River Band headlined the Bite of Bend last year, they’ve been not only on my radar, but constantly in my ear, with their 2009 record Palace and Stage quickly becoming one of my favorites from the past few years. I even wrote a feature about the band for Jambase.

Last night Loch Lomond and Portland Cello Project played to a mostly full Tower Theatre, making it the latest successful show for the concert series.

Derrick Brown: The Witty Poet Performs Two Shows Tonight
The renowned slam poet descends on Bend.
Derrick Brown, the Long Beach-based slam poet who’s as funny as he is sharp with his words, is giving Bend two shows tonight.
Before becoming one of the most lauded touring poets you’re likely to find, Brown was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, making him probably the only ex-military performance artists you’ll see this year.

After a decade in the Bend punk scene, Andy McCumber is moving on.
After a decade playing his way through Bend’s punk scene, Andy McCumber is appearing at his final show tonight at Players Bar and Grill with both of his bands, No Cash Value and Hands on Throat.
He first began playing in Bend with No Cash Value in 2000 after moving to the region from eastern Oregon and then joined Hands on Throat about three and a half years ago.
