Hairy Upper Lip Mania! Mustache Bash for Schools at the Domino Room on Monday Night

Rise Up International celebrates a month worth of mustache growing with a party at the Domino Room on 11/30.

Mustaches have been growing everywhere as of late, with some going as far as to rename the entire month, Movember.
We all know mustaches are either ridiculous or awesome: Awesome if you're holding a pistol, riding a horse while smoking a hand-rolled cigarette, driving a 1975 Dodge Charger, or happen to be a middle relief pitcher – and ridiculous if you're anyone else.

Hillstomp Returns to Bend to Help You Work Off Some of that Turkey

Junkyard blues rock band Hillstomp returns to Bend for a post-Thanksgiving day show.

In keeping with what I hope to be an annual tradition, Hillstomp, the venerable Portland junkyard blues rock band, is returning to the Domino Room for another post-Thanksgiving show.
Those who made it out to the show last year will remember that Hillstomp has the ability (using only a guitar and a collection of junkyard percussion instruments) to turn Bendites into complete boot stomping, hands-waving freakazoids.

GWAR at Bend’s Midtown Tomorrow Night – Check Them Out Here with Joan Rivers

GWAR is coming to Bend’s Midtown Music Hall, but first check out this video of them with Joan Rivers.

If you’re a GWAR fan, or are perhaps merely interested in the idea of seeing the most intentionally offensive and confusingly costumed band in the history of rock and roll, then you’re probably digging through the bottom of your closet, looking for some ratty threads to wear to the show Wednesday night at the Midtown.
Why ratty attire? Well, because you’re going to be blasted for more than an hour with a litany of fake (hopefully) bodily fluids.

It’s all music and it’s all local tonight at the Tower Theatre.

How much local music can you fit onto one stage?
Well, the Tower Theatre is tackling that question tonight with the Homegrown Music Showcase.
The show, which we featured in this week's issue, brings together a roster that includes Sisters folkie Dennis McGregor, blues rocker Eric Tollefson, the pop and soul singer Reed Thomas Lawrence and ethnomusicologist Shireen Amini.

Bend’s 2nd Street Theater is Closing its Curtain for Good

After nine years producing plays in Bend, the 2nd Street Theater closes its doors.

I just got word that, after nine years as a main player in Central Oregon's theatrical world, 2nd Street Theater will be closing for good following the upcoming run of Harvey.
From our angle, things seemed to be going well with the 2nd Street, with the theater recently wrapping up a month-long run of Evil Dead: The Musical, which featured several packed houses (and plenty of stage blood, too) in October.

Friday Night Music: The Lonely H

Young retro rockers The Lonely H have great long hair and play hardy rock and roll.

This spring, I wrote about a little-known Seattle-area band that was expressly, explicitly, not a classic rock band. The band is called The Lonely H, they rock quite classically (but again, are not classic rock band) and wear all the great denim and leather ensembles that you probably thought were left behind in 1974.
