In a move that some bar owners will almost certainly see as long overdue, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission has moved Jason Evers, the Bend-based regional manager of the organization who has been accused by licensees as using unfair and allegedly retaliatory enforcement tactics, out of his current position to one in Medford. Also, it appears that an outside investigation into the OLCC's enforcement practices will soon be underway.
We just noticed an error on the Our Picks page of the paper this week, which stated that the Cascade Cycling Classic's Downtown Criterium as taking place Friday night, which is incorrect. Although the criterium has been on Fridays for the past few years, this year's event is on SATURDAY.
You probably know by now that the Bend Brew Fest has been canceled, but fear not, there will be a beer festival in Bend this year. Just minutes ago, the details of the Little Woody Barrel-Aged Brew Festival, slated for September 12, were laid out and the Blender is pumped, because, well, the Blender likes beer.

First off, if you haven't noticed yet, there is finally some action on the north end of Third Street in the long vacant and almost-forgotten Club 97 location. Once the nucleus of Bend's nightlife scene, the expansive club has been sitting empty for several years now - until this week, when The Underground opens in that location.
