The word has slowly spread through the local music scene over the past couple of days, but the Blender got official confirmation today that Tim Vester, front man of raucous punk rockers the Kronkmen, has left the band.
After a nine-year run with the Kronkmen and countless local and out-of-the-area shows, Vester decided over the weekend to step away from the band, citing personnel reasons.

Portland songstress Emma Hill stopped off at the Tower Theatre last weekend to celebrate the release of her new disc, Clumsy Seduction, along with her band, thus creating Emma Hill and Her Gentlemen Callers. Hill played both older material and cuts from the new disc showing how she’s risen from simple girl-with-a-guitar to a Neko Case-style band leader.
If you weren’t one of the folks who crammed themselves into the second level stage of the Summit last night, you missed a wacky comedy show straight from Los Angeles. Redmond native Randy Liedtke hosted and headlined a homecoming show that was opened by Kyle Kinane – a guy Liedtke refered to as his "favorite comic right now.
Tomorrow is the third Saturday in April, which means, of course, that it's Record Store Day. This holiday, which began in 2007, is a national celebration of independent record stores - a medium that has been slowly going the way of the buffalo in the past decade, as evidenced by the fact that we only have one independent store left in Bend.

It was a busy Friday night for the Sound Check team. First we caught some of the Elephant Revival show at the Silver Moon then it was off to the Summit Saloon and Stage where Sound Check’s partially bandana-adorned crew pumped fists to the sounds of Dirty Penny.
Some of you may have been fortunate enough to catch Steve Kimock Crazy Engine last night at the Domino Room — and there were plenty of folks there — saw one of the music industry’s most skilled guitarists shred the place down along with an incredibly funky band. Rocking the Tower, June 10.While we all sit waiting for some big news about the summer live music schedule here in Bend, there was a shimmer of light this week as it was announced that Brandi Carlile was booked for the Tower Theatre on June 10.
The organizers of the 4 Peaks Music Festival said that they were using the Spring Fling tour with Poor Man’s Whiskey and Blue Turtle Seduction as a method of gauging the level of interest folks had in the festival before making plans for any sort of summer event. Well, The Blender hasn’t heard how the Eugene and Portland editions of the tour went off, but the Old Stone Church here in Bend was packed full as two of Bend’s favorite rootsy jam bands got people in festival mode – even if snow was falling outside.
