There's probably going to be a mass exodus of Bendites come Memorial Day weekend when the Sasquatch! Music Festival takes over the Gorge Amphitheater up in Central Washington. But come August 7th and 8th, there should be another line of vehicles heading north as legendary jam band Phish returns to the Gorge for the first time in six years.
The Blender
Frame Wranglers…It’s Funny as Hell
Local filmmaker Chris Kas, who works at Rage Films, but is also the brains behind a project called "Frame Wranglers" a fake reality show about a documentary team that goes looking out looking for fabled creatures, often with little success — other than making you laugh your face off. Tomorrow night (Friday) Kas is showing the third and fourth episodes of the series at Backporch Coffee Roasters (1075 Newport Ave) at 7pm.
In case ya missed it: Person People CD release party video
If you didn’t make it down to the Domino Room on Saturday night for Person People’s CD release show you missed out on a hell of a show. But thankfully the Blender was there to capture some video, so check it out.
WEEKEND WARRIOR 2/20-2/22
The weekend warrior is back and here again on Friday afternoon to give some helpful pointers for the weekend. Without further adieu:
FRIDAY NIGHT - 2/20
Cicada Omega, Larry and His Flask at the Silver Moon Brewing Co.
WinterFest Video – Dirty Dozen
There were memorable moments by the handful at last weekend’s WinterFest and one of those was Dirty Dozen Brass Band kicking out a steaming version of Stevie Wonder’s "Superstition" as snowboarders cut through the crisp winter night air behind the crowd.
That 1 Guy on Video
Last night the Silver Moon was packed with awestruck folks dancing along to the sounds of That 1 Guy and his magic pipe. There were also a good number of people simply staring at the dude's homemade instrument.
Insanely, Incredibly, Ridiculously Enormous Rail Jam Apparatus
WinterFest is kicking off tomorrow, and we thought we'd give you a preview of the massive Rail Jam apparatus that has been erected across from the Les Schwab Amphitheater. Check out the video below for a look at the progress that has been made so far.
4 Peaks Fest on Tour
The Blender raved a bit about music festivals earlier this week, but we didn't touch on the state of our own outdoor music and camping fest: the 4 Peaks Music Festival. Word just came through today that 4 Peaks is planning a mini Oregon tour with two of the festival's stalwarts, Poor Man's Whiskey and Blue Turtle Seduction.
Tweak Bird was here….and it was dark
A few members of the Blender crew were out at the Summit Stage and Saloon last night to catch Tweak Bird and Kandi Coated. Alas, it was dark and not optimal video taping conditions, but you can get a taste of the sound purveyed by Tweak Bird – a quirkily heavy duo consisting of two brothers based in Los Angeles.
Festival News: Good and not so good
Although you might not realize it here in Bend this week with these mid-spring temperatures we've been experiencing, summer is still a ways off. But that didn't keep us from getting all hyped up about the summer music festival circuit this week.
