One opportunity the Obama campaign is missing (and they seem to be doing just fine without me) is that they’re not posing the question, “Did John McCain put his country or his election first when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate?” We all know the answer: he chose her because he thought it would help him get the Hillary defectors and the ultra-conservative voters who weren’t thrilled about him. But I’m sure that whether it was best for the country never entered his mind.
“Country first!”
If we are to take him on his face (value) then we are to believe that he is a man whose best judgment leads him to believe that Sarah Palin actually is the best one to run a country with America’s influence and reach, should he take a turn for the worst during his would-be presidency.
Sarah Palin?
Maybe he’ll appoint Chuck Norris as Secretary of Defense onacounna (sic) all them movies, and all the rest (of the cabinet) dwarves so he can be the tallest, for a change. He’ll call it “maverick” and “ground breaking.”

And an inexperienced Chicago crook is good???
A crook, of course. And a Marxist, and a socialist, and a tax-raiser, and, and, and…
Bottom line, Obama went through the primary process. America got to see who he is and what he’s about. Basically, America said with their votes, “We know his record and all about the length of his political career. We want him anyway.” America didn’t get a chance to scrutinize, and then pass or choose on Sara Palin. That choice was made for them.
And we did not get to pick Biden. So what is your point??? Or are the Democrats above scrutiny??
Jed,
JEvan’s point was not that Democrats are above scrutiny. The point was that part of the reason that many people didn’t vote for McCain/Palin was that she was an unknown entity and McCain chose to do very little to correct that. Just look at the exit poll questions relating to her. As for Biden…he is anything but unknown to most Americans who pay any attention to politics. In case you have forgotten, he was under the microscope in the primaries, unlike Palin.
Why so defensive? Oh yeah, maybe because the people have spoken, as of last night.
Just a follow up. Palin thought that Africa was a country and couldn’t name any countries in NAFTA. Sounds like McCain had good reason to hide her from the public. Turns out that we had good reason to not vote for him. To hide her complete ignorance about elementary school level facts from the public is almost traitorous.
