The only violence I’ve seen — except in Rome, where some anarchists got crazy — has been initiated by the cops. There’s an ex-Marine lying in a hospital in Oakland today after sustaining a fractured skull when a police tear gas canister hit him in the head at close range. Why didn’t you mention that?
Olsen was injured during a “confrontation” with the police. I do not wish anybody harm, but it is typically healthier to not “confront” police officers. Same thought process as the Taser issue brought by this paper a few years back. Comply with lawful orders from an officer of the law and you don’t get hurt. Furthermore, everybody needs to stop attaching his service in the Marines and Iraq as a rider to this story. This guy founded a site called Ihatethemarines.com and has therefore earned no place of honor for service.
I knew I could count on you to stick up for the cops, Jon; in your mind the police can do no wrong.
But as for Olsen’s service in the Marines, that’s a fact, and it’s also a fact that he did two tours of duty in Iraq. Your disapproval of his political views doesn’t erase those facts.
Of course you’re part of the same crowd that Swiftboated John Kerry and exalted the draft-dodging coward George W. Bush, so I shouldn’t be surprised.
1.You must be talking about self appointed war criminal John Kerry, the one who threw away his medals in disgust and sold out his brethren in front of the senate to ignite his political career.
2. Ask any Marine what they think of Olsen and you’ll find they agree with me.
3. Dan Rather’s big smoking gun letter on Bush, carefully designed as an October surprise, was proven to be forged. Rather has yet to admit he was in on it. Bush served his term honorably.
4. The whole Kerry/military service angle was clearly a failure, and should have been obvious to a group of people so fond of proclaiming their intellectual superiority over the heathen republicans. It had been but a mere four years since an actual draft dodger sat in the white house.
5. I’ve never said that police officers can do no wrong, but even(especially) with “bad”/volatile ones, it is still indisputable that you are extremely unlikely to have problems if you obey their lawful orders.
