Coverage for Central Oregon, by Central Oregonians.
100% Local. No Paywalls.

Every day, the Source publishes a mix of locally reported stories on our website, keeping you up to date on developments in news, food, music and the arts. We’re committed to covering this city where we live, this city that we love, and we hear regularly from readers who appreciate our ability to put breaking news in context.

The Source has been a free publication for its 22 years. It has been free as a print version and continued that way when we began to publish online, on social media and through our newsletters.

But, as most of our readers know, times are different for local journalism. Tech giants are hoovering up small businesses and small-business advertising—which has been the staple for locally owned media. Without these resources, journalism struggles to bring coverage of community news, arts and entertainment that social media cannot deliver.

Please consider becoming a supporter of locally owned journalism through our Source Insider program. Learn more about our program’s benefits by clicking through today.

Here's what you might be looking for from this week's puzzle.

Dear fans of Pearl's Puzzle:

We're sorry we had to leave out Pearl's Puzzle in the 9/7 issue. And to make matters worse, we included the answers to the 8/31 issue as the clues the 9/14 issue. Confused yet? We'll try not to let it happen again.

Here's a look at what we may have missed/messed up/cried about this week and last. Just breathe, everyone. This is supposed to be fun.

Puzzle words for 9/14:

Fill in every row, column, and 3x3 box with each of the letters:
H E R  T O X I N S

The highlighted letters read left to right and top to bottom will complete the quote:

"I love the____, and the_____loves me back. Why else would it offer me so much____?" - Stephen Colbert.

Puzzle answer 8/31:

"Education's answer is to replace an empty mind with an open one." - Malcolm S. Forbes
