The Boot 12/2-12/9
As Bend’s City Council prepares to push for a fuel tax on the ballot to maintain the city’s crumbling roads, smartly arguing that those who use the roads ought to share the burden for their upkeep, we’d like to see a similar principle applied to sidewalks. No, we’re not talking about residents and business ownersโฆ

Getting Beer Fans’ Goose
As recently as a few years ago, obtaining bottles from Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout lineup of barrel-aged wonders wasn’t very tough. The Oakland Raiders are one of those football teams where their long and storied history is usually more dramatic than what is going on during the games. You can’t always judge a book by its cover, though sometimes, those assumptions can color the content. Though Portland-based band Fruition is composed of stringed instrument players—including a mandolin—and its music has always had folk-tinged roots, it was never meant to be a bluegrass band.
