Construction is scheduled to begin on a new roundabout which will close an intersection in northeast Bend starting June 2. The work will be done at the intersection of Bear Creek Road, Pettigrew Road and Purcell Boulevard. Drivers should expect delays and detours.

The city of Bend says the project will also provide safer connections as well as water and sewer improvements.ย Part of the plan calls for a 10-foot wide shared use path for walkers and bicyclists on the north side of Bear Creek between Cessna Drive and the urban growth boundary east of 27th Street. The path will also be added to the west side of 27th Street between Reed Market Road and Highway 20.

Construction will be done in two phases. The first phase, starting in June, will focus on underground utility work and will last through the fall. The second phase will begin in spring of 2026 for the roundabout construction, lasting through early summer.

The city is hosting an informational booth on Thursday May 29. It’ll be in the parking lot of Desert Streams Church at 62010 SE 27th Street from 4:30-6:30pm.ย

  1. The City of Bend is so inept it can’t even use Google:
“Roundabouts typically work well in smaller cities or areas with moderate traffic flow. As a city grows and traffic becomes more congested, roundabouts may become less effective. They can struggle with high traffic volumes and may become confusing and unsafe with more than two lanes, especially at intersections with many merge points.”
Get a clue! Do you folks not drive around town anymore?! We all see it. Why can’t you?!
