As part of the ongoing fashion show which is the Oregon Ducks football team, the squad has once again unveiled a new uniform, this time for the biggest game in the program’s history, the National Championship game on January 10.

Who knows if the new threads — courtesy of Nike, of course — will help them defeat the mighty Tigers of Auburn, but at least they’ll win some style points.

Have a look. Where do you think this ranks on the long, long list of Oregon Duck uniforms?

Personally, I really, really like those socks. They look like they’re made from real Godzilla skin.

  1. much harder to disguise ball fakes, the brown ball doesnt blend into a white background. dark green or black should have been the call.

  2. Our colors are yellow and green, YELLOW AND GREEN, Not grey, black, dark blue, or Olive drab green, or whatever that ugle sock color is.

  3. Personally, I think all these uniforms make Oregon look bad. Every athlete wants to be on a classy team with nice equipment and unis…but come on guys. When exactly are they going to call U of O…University of Nike, or the U of Oregon Swoosh. It adds errogance and flash that hurt the program. Let them wear one of the million other uniforms Phil Knight has provided them and this time…..let them back it up on the field!

  4. pmm-

We are the “away” team so we have to wear light colors. If we would have ended up #1 in the final BCS poll we could have worn the dark “home” team colors.

  5. If an sec fan claims not to like Oregons varied unis don’t beleive them, its simply a caes of ‘uniform envy’…..because they didn’t think of it first. This game will be like all Oregon games, they will take over and dominate the second half winning 52-27 against a team that could easily and probably should have lost 3 games this season

  6. PMM, Oregon is the visiting team for the bowl game. They’re not permitted to wear “home” (dark) colors. Auburn will be wearing them.

  7. Wow those are ugly. And why don’t we use green and yellow anymore?

Why is it the only thing I’ve heard about our team between the civil war and nc game (please don’t call it the natty), is our students burning the field and being idiots, and our ugly “outfits”?

  8. I’ll be upfront in saying that I am not an Oregon fan, primarily due to the cockiness of their organization as well as their incredibly rude fans. It has disappointed me how much of a hot topic the Duck uniforms have become. It is seriously ridiculous that a FOOTBALL team gets so much attention about what they wear. It’s basically just a stupid way for them to brag about how they are the spoiled children of Phil Knight.

  9. They look great to me and will look even better in the end zone. Time for these Ducks to fly baby…..GO DUCKS.. they will never give you the credit you deserve till you win it!

  10. Well, as a Duck myself, I am pretty disgusted! Did I miss the memo that Oregon’s colors are now gray and chartreuse? After watching them play Oregon State with the Beavers wearing their school colors of orange and black, I found it very sad that the Ducks chose play the annual civil war game in all gray instead of their own school colors. That they are now playing for the national championship and still don’t feel the necessity to sport the green and yellow of their school is disgraceful!

It would be sad to think that the history and practice of athletic teams identifying themselves via specific colors has somehow become an antiquated and arbitrary notion, subjugated to the whim of “edgy” fashion design. Nike and Oregon’s athletic department should be ashamed for choosing to disregard tradition. Oregon fans still manage to enthusiastically show their colors, but their team… keeps dropping the ball.

  11. The green and yellow uniforms the Phila. Eagles used to wear were good looking, but the green and yellow traditional colors of Oregon are not very attractive — no snap and sizzle to them. Maybe if they made the green a little darker and the yellow a little more golden …

And I like the “feathers” on the shoulders — they look like epaulets.

  12. @BJP: Our colors are, officially, lemon and emerald. It’s written down somewhere.

I’m a duck (J school, class of ’74), and I don’t mind if they’re tinkered with, and I really did like the civil war versions.

About the shoulder feathers: I think of the goddess Nike and the winged victory of Samothrace. You don’t suppose that they’re a little extra advert for Nike, do you? Nah.

  13. “You don’t suppose that they’re a little extra advert for Nike, do you?”

LOL! Would Phil Knight stoop to such a thing? (Hell yes!)

  14. i think the uniforms are AWESOME i love all the ducks uniforms and the SEC is just jelouse with there ragular old uniforms boring!!

  15. There will look great covering Cam Newton in the backfield. These will blurr by as Cliff is streaking past all defenders on a kick return. Nice job Phil.

  16. Wow, First of all the uniforms are great, 2nd all of you who complain about all the uniforms and how they are spoiled get over it… Everyone hates what they are envious of.. Oh and GO DUCKS!!!
