Oregon's Ashton Eaton Leads Olympic Decathlon After 8 Events: Watch NOW at the Tower

Watch Eaton win gold for FREE today at the Tower. Starting NOW! Two events left!

Ashton EatonUPDATE:

Eaton just won gold in front of a packed house at the Tower Theatre.

Ashton Eaton is the man. After setting a new world record at the Olympic trials in Eugene earlier this summer, the Mountain View High grad is on track to win Olympic gold in the decathlon, an old school event which, for the victor, carries with it the title of "World's Greatest Athlete."

As of this morning Eaton led his closest rival, American Trey Hardee, a two-time world champion, by 222 points with only the javelin and 1,500 meters remaining. The race for gold is likely to come down to the last event, the 1,500, as Hardee is a better thrower but Eaton has a better PR in the 1,500.

Thanks to the fine folks at the Tower, you can watch him LIVE and for FREE! It all starts in 15 minutes!

Here's what you need to know: It's free, doors were at 9:30am this morning, concessions will be for sale. GO!

Schedule:

• Javelin Throw at 10:30 am • 1500 Meter Race at 1:20 pm

We'll be down there to watch Eaton crush the 1,500m and take gold. Pumped!
