The sport of BMX made its Olympic debut in 2008 where it joined its road and mountain bike cousins on the world stage. While all three cycling disciples share a common denominatorโ€” a bikeโ€”the similarities end there. The cultures of the sports are as dissimilar as NBA basketball and ballet.

This weekend the BMX Northwest Nationals are taking place in Redmond at the Hooker Creek Event Center and the pro/am event is drawing riders from across the country. We suggest taking in the weekend’s races to get a feel for just how fit and fearless BMX racers really are. It’s free for spectators. See “Our Picks” for more details.
