It Ain’t Easy Brewing Green

From early hemp beers to modern CBD- and terpene-laden IPAs, cannabis and beer together has become more than a novelty and is poised to be a trend. It comes asโ€ฆ

Sustain the Future

You know, if everyone liked the same stuff, the world would be so unbearably boring. Most people are so divided nowadays that even if they agree on the symptoms, they’ll argue intensely over the disease. I’ve seen people lament climate change in the same sentence while mocking global warming which, as far as I canโ€ฆ

Artist Fact Sheet: Andy Frasco & The U.N.

Andy Frasco & The U.N. aren’t your typical jam bandโ€”and they’ll tell you that. Frasco previously described the group as “a punk rock band for the jam scene” in an interview with the Live For Live Music website. If you read, watch or listen to any interview with Frasco, this sentiment will make total sense.โ€ฆ

A Community Thread: Dan McGarigle, Pine Mountain Sports

A Community Thread: What does community mean to you?  Dan McGarigle: Long story short, where weโ€”especially these daysโ€”we follow headlines, we turn on the news, we’re bombarded by media from all over the world. Green Homesโ€ฆ

Considerations When Choosing a Real Estate Broker

A real estate purchase or sale tends to be, for most people, the largest investment they’ll make in their lifetime. Who a buyer/seller chooses to represent them with such a significant transaction matters. Last year, I was working with a client who previously had his home listed for sale. Within 60 days of his contract, heโ€ฆ

Who's Ready for the Bag Ban #inBend?

Has a checker ever given you side-eye for bringing your own bags, and not automatically offering to do the checker’s job by beginning to bag your own groceries? Us, too. While checkers can currently get away with that occasional side-eye because those of us bringing bags are still so few, that’s not going to last.โ€ฆ

GUEST OPINION Earth Day Have you ever imagined how the climate story will be written in 2050? Will it be from a point of view of achievement or despair? Curbside Composting Expansion?

In 2017, 181,000 tons of waste went into Knott Landfillโ€”a 39 percent increase since 2014. Deschutes County’s currentโ€ฆ

There’s Something About Marriott

I’m a married lesbian. Yesterday on the phone, my wife invited her sister to spend the night (in our small one-bedroom apartment) without asking me. When I confronted her, saying it’s OUR home, she said, “It’s my sister!” Family’s very important to her, and her sister didn’t come, so I let it go. But what’sโ€ฆ

Spaces where artists can connect

It interests me how creative Bend can be, and how much our artist community has grown. In many ways, it feels like it hasn’t changed much over the yearsโ€”like the fact that there are still not many spaces artists can hang their work. Of course, they are plenty of privately owned spaces, but often theseโ€ฆ

About five years ago, Jason Thomas was on a kite surfing trip in the Philippines. It was then that he first tried the pili nut (pronounced peel-y) and experienced the powerful flavor for himself.
