Have you heard the joke, “How do you know if someone is vegan?” The answer is, “Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.” As much as that joke is funny, the vegan struggle is real. They need to tell you because they don’t eat animal products: no meat, eggs, milk, cheese, or even honey, for most of them. Imagine going to a restaurant and only being able to order one thing, or only side dishes, on a menu. Pretty disappointing, huh?
Veganism is gaining popularity as more people choose the diet because of ethical (they are against animal cruelty) and environmental reasons (they believe industrialized farming of animals is bad for the environment and unsustainable).
Luckily, Bend can keep up with this new demand, we have restaurants with plenty of delicious vegan options. We’ve crafted a handy infographic to help you choose where to dine whether you are vegan, taking a day off from animal products or dining with vegan friends.

“Ethical and Environmental” reasons can be considered the same thing…you forgot to mention the other group of people who eat a plant based diet for their own personal health concerns. Over 600,000 people die every year from heart disease in this country and the plant based, whole food diet has been proven to reverse heart disease without the use of medications. Close to 70% of adults in the US between the ages of 20-75 are now obese. Many types of cancer people think are genetic or just appear out of nowhere are linked to processed meat and dairy products. “Taking a day off from animal products” is not cutting it for the environment, the animals, or the general health of citizens. Animal Agriculture is the leading cause of Global Warming, Deforestation, Water Depletion, Species Extinction, and Ocean Dead Zones. Think about that next “Earth Day” when you’re sitting around a bunch of people stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers and hot dogs. “they believe industrialized farming of animals is bad for the environment and unsustainable”… It’s not an opinion
