Eat the Rich

Ted Rall's column in last week's Source was painful to read but all too accurate. Obama's sell-out to Big Business, especially to Wall Street, is a clear indication that we now officially live in a Plutocracy - government of the Rich, by the Rich and for the Rich.

Decades of big- government-is-the-problem, right-wing propaganda started by Reagan has been effective. Millions now actually believe this colossal lie.

Big Business, not Big Government is the problem. Big Business owns the Government. Reagan launched his political career while he was spokesman for General Electric, the quintessential poster child for Big Business. Obama has appointed the current General Electric CEO, Jeffery Immelt as an economic advisor. What does that tell you? (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

The wealth disparity between the Plutocrats and the rest of us is the largest in our history - greater than the Gilded Age of the late 19th Century and the 1920s before the Great Depression. The Rich are waging class war and winning, even Warren Buffett acknowledges this. Their Army is the Republican Party, the Supreme Court since the addition of Alito and Roberts, and, increasingly, the Democratic Party. Their Navy Seals equivalent are the Tea Party commandos.

As a certified Geezer in my seventh decade, I'll probably be off this mortal coil when the Plutocrats finally get rid of Social Security and Medicare, but I feel sorry for you younger folks who will be living in Third World America along with those already living there. I hope you will rise up and fight back like your grandparents did in the 1930s when we had a Democratic President who stood up to the greedy rich and their Republican lap dogs like Greg Walden. Go for it. You have nothing to lose but your minimum wage jobs.
