  1. Yeah, a modest increase in a tax on tourists that levels the playing field between city and country lodging rates and augments lost timber revenues. What wacky idea. Then you have investing in higher education to keep pace with demand from the medical sector (i.e. Jobs for local students) and a transit system to get our employees to and from work in an era of record high gas prices. Pretty crazy stuff.

  2. That’s how all taxes are sold. Just $.39 cents per $1000 of assessed value, etc. A modest increase. Add all those modest taxes together, though, and the result is quite immodest.

Besides, I know a better way to replace lost timber revenues. Cut trees.

  3. “Cheat Sheet”
Does the Source think we are incompetent morons, unable to do our own research?

Please read about your candidates and issues- Protect your home, vote for those who are looking out for Oregon.

A Democratic vote is not always a green vote.

  4. I agree with most of your endorsements but Westlund does not have the skills that Alley has even the Willamette Week endorsed Alley. It would be a shame if Bend lost Burley while Stigler is a fine candidate Burley has worked hard for our community.
