I’ll admit that I’m not a Frank Zappa enthusiast, but I’m aware of a bucketful of folks here in Bend that worship at the alter of perhaps the only man to have earned the title of “rock and roll composer.” And they’re in luck because there’s some Zappa music coming to town.

These United States tonight at the Silver Moon…and there’s a new Pearl Jam album out
Tuesday nights typically aren't the most fun times of the week, but tonight is an exception. These United States, the much-talked-about folkie indie rock band from a combination of Washington, DC and Kentucky, is landing at the Silver Moon Brewing Co.
DJ Barisone is Leaving Town
After years of providing the backbeat to some of Bend’s best parties, DJ Barisone told me this morning that he’s leaving Bend for Portland, where he will continue to pursue his DJ career.
Just last month, Source readers voted Bryan Barisone “Best DJ” in our annual Best of Central Oregon issue, a distinction he’s definitely earned.
Go see “Cabaret” immediately
The entire Source staff headed to the Tower Theatre last night for the opening night performance of Cat Call Productions’ performance of Cabaret. All I can say, is go see this musical.

The show is slated for October 24 at the Midtown complex – either the Domino Room or the Midtown Ballroom.

Brett Dennen Video From Monday Night’s Show
Summer is pretty much over, but the sizable crowd at the Athletic Club of Bend last night where Brett Dennen played a set of fan favorites, shook his ass and spoke for about 15 total minutes about love and love-related topics didn’t seem to care much as they danced to the singer-songwriter’s warm-and-cozy numbers.
As always, Dennen was equipped with a talented backing band, allowing the red-haired giant to put down his guitar a few times and grab the mic for some R&B-style crooning as he stared over the crowd and into the brisk September night.
