DJ Barisone is Leaving Town

One last show in Bend for DJ Barisone.

After years of providing the backbeat to some of Bend’s best parties, DJ Barisone told me this morning that he’s leaving Bend for Portland, where he will continue to pursue his DJ career.
Just last month, Source readers voted Bryan Barisone “Best DJ” in our annual Best of Central Oregon issue, a distinction he’s definitely earned.

Poor Man’s Whiskey-easily one of Bend’s favorite bands, is returning to Bend this fall, to finally unleash the much rumored, but little seen “Dark Side of the Moonshine,” which is the Bay Area band’s bluegrass interpretation of the Pink Floyd classic. The show is slated for October 24 at the Midtown complex – either the Domino Room or the Midtown Ballroom.

Summer is pretty much over, but the sizable crowd at the Athletic Club of Bend last night where Brett Dennen played a set of fan favorites, shook his ass and spoke for about 15 total minutes about love and love-related topics didn’t seem to care much as they danced to the singer-songwriter’s warm-and-cozy numbers.
As always, Dennen was equipped with a talented backing band, allowing the red-haired giant to put down his guitar a few times and grab the mic for some R&B-style crooning as he stared over the crowd and into the brisk September night.
